Homeward is the designated Public Health Agency for Story County.  Story County Public Health, along with local community partners, have been meeting for the past three years to develop plans to protect Story County residents from the spread of communicable diseases, such as H1N1 Influenza.

We are making preparations to vaccinate priority groups when the H1N1 vaccine arrives.  The information about H1N1 vaccine and the priority population to receive the vaccine continues to change.  Our community partners will continue to work together to ensure the public is informed and individuals with the most need will receive the vaccine.

Prevention is the key to reducing the spread of the influenza virus. Basic prevention methods are:

• Wash hands frequently
• Cough/Sneeze into your sleeeve
• Stay home if you are sick
• Get vaccines for Seasonal & H1N1 Influenza
