Sample CodeRED Message from the Story County Sheriff's Office

The Story County Sheriff, Emergency Telecommunications and E911 Service Board have partnered with CodeRED to provide citizens county-wide with rapid emergency notifications to their home and mobile phones.

Residents may now opt-in to receive pre-recorded notifications of emergencies in their cities, neighborhoods and rural areas by registering with CodeRED on their secured website.

The CodeRED system gives officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire city at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. This system allows the dispatcher to telephone all or targeted areas of the county in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a missing child or evacuation notices)  Story County residents choosing to opt-in for this free service have complete control over their notification options by utilzing CodeRED's website and may choose to opt-out at anytime.
